The separation between the beams has more to do with it. Under the assumption that the 24 "centers and many timber framing, you can 1 / 2"-cons with excerpts from H or 5 nickel / 8 outdoor use.

If you use OSB, it would be 15/32 or 19/32.

I use clips to any size OSB. Clips are not required 5 / 8 or even nickel disadvantages.

When I go two roofers by the thin coating, I suggest you not less than 1 / 2 inch plywood and stay away from all connections are boards.Clips always a good idea, but the tongue and throat would be more difficult, however, in the Easy to install beams travel and much more dangerous.

We have 3 / 8 HRT and clips, but also on the deck with asphalt shingles. We live in Southern California, snow is no problem. If you build in an area where heavy snow, you should review their building codes to the snow in your region to be fair. We have the information in the below mentioned book.

3 / 8 is ok and is probably what you're in your house roof. 2 out of 4 are so cheap, not the plywood roof, snow, etc.

3 / 8 or 5 / 8 should be good.
